1. In the past two years, what
would you consider to have been the top three challenges for the Salt Lake
County Republican Party?
- Keeping the party unified and reflective
of the majority of Salt Lake County Republicans.
- Maintaining a positive image in the
press and the public at large.
- Keeping party volunteers enthused,
active, informed and positively involved in the party, so that we have
broad-based support to win elections.
2. In your opinion, what will be the
top three concerns facing the party in the next two years?
Same as above.
It is vital that we have leadership which will tackle these issues. We
should have taken back the 2nd Congressional District: Salt Lake County
failed to deliver its small piece of victory in a new district that is 60%
Republican. Looking into the future, if we continue to fail at keeping the
party unified and reflective of the majority of county Republicans, at
maintaining a positive image with the press and the public, and in keeping
our volunteer base enthused and active, we will not be able to garner
enough support to raise the funds we need to keep the party strong, nor
will we be able to win elections. In Salt Lake County, this could
eventually lead to our loss of majority party status. I am running to help
the Party get back on track.
3. Do you believe that you
sufficiently understand the make-up and operation of the party’s
conventions, Central Committee and Executive Committee to do the job you are
seeking? Why?
Yes, most definitely. I've been
serving as Vice Chair over the past two years and am well versed and have
experienced first hand how these conventions and committees operate--how
to organize them, plan for them, recruit volunteers and how to conduct
them. I have chaired some of these meetings in the chair's absence
and am well prepared for the job.
4. Do you believe that you
sufficiently understand the procedural and governing documents of the party?
Why?
Yes, most definitely. I have
reviewed these documents repeatedly, have participated in enacting various
portions of these documents.
Also, I am an attorney and am capable of
understanding, interpreting, and proposing changes to any procedural or
constitutional types of documents.
5. What special skills or experience
do you possess that qualifies you for the office that you seek?
I have served as Vice Chair of the County
Party from 2001 to present.
I have served on the State Central
Committee, as precinct chair, county and state delegate, and on various
Republican women's organizations.
I was an intern for the Republican Study
Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives in D.C.
I majored in Political Science at B.Y.U.
and have a law degree from Cornell Law School.
I work well with people, and have
extensive leadership experience. I will be able to bring ALL
Republicans together in the common goals of recruiting viable candidates
for democratically-held offices, supporting our Republican elected
officials, and getting our Republican candidates elected!
