1. In the past two years, what
would you consider to have been the top three challenges for the Salt Lake
County Republican Party?
- Organizing the party -- collecting
information concerning caucuses, precinct chairs, delegates, and also
involving more people in the political process.
- Redistricting Salt Lake County -- during
a census year was a huge feat to accomplish.
- Finances -- making the budget balance
and fundraising for elections and party needs.
2. In your opinion, what will be the
top three concerns facing the party in the next two years?
- Grassroots participation -- distributing
information and opportunities for involvement.
- Fundraising -- providing money to
encourage good Republicans to run for office.
- Elections -- victory in 2004!
3. Do you believe that you
sufficiently understand the make-up and operation of the party’s
conventions, Central Committee and Executive Committee to do the job you are
seeking? Why?
Yes, as a campaign manager, state
delegate, and county delegate, I have been involved at all levels of
organization, and understand the purposes of each body or committee.
4. Do you believe that you
sufficiently understand the procedural and governing documents of the party?
Why?
Yes, I recently passed the National
Association of Parliamentarians test competently. (I understand
Robert's Rules of Order)
The Constitution and Bylaws come first,
and then we rely on the rules of order and standing rules to conduct our
meetings effectively and with civility.
5. What special skills or experience
do you possess that qualifies you for the office that you seek?
Campaign manager:
- Organized GOTV programs.
- Successfully re-elected Morgan Philpot
to legislature.
- Coordinated efforts with Precinct
Chairs, Region Chair, and volunteers to distribute literature and
information.
State and County Delegate
- Continuing involvement in nominating
and electing conservative Republicans to office.
- Clear understanding of party
procedures.
